DAY 29 OF THE 40-DAY MEDITATION CHALLENGE: I CREATE A SANCTUARY OF LOVE, HOME AND MEANING THAT IS PRESENT AS ME EVERYWHERE – December 20, 2016

“I heard an architect say that a contemplative building
is not one built for meditating,
though meditation may take place there,
but more a building
where the inside is larger than the outside.
It made me realize that anything that does this,
that makes the inside larger than the outside,
leads us to our core.
And breathing there gives us peace.

Now I wonder if the virtues of fidelity, care, and wisdom
that Erikson speaks of are such buildings.

We might call them sanctuaries of soul, love,
and meaning that can make us feel at home anywhere.
Until the very life we’re given for such a short time becomes such a sanctuary.

img_4907As we move through this 40-day wilderness,
some of you will become fatigued,
and want to head back.
Some of you will second-guess the power and purpose of this venture.
Some of you will look in the mirror, and stare God in the face
and deny the power of Spirit more than three times.
But this is what I want you to know, your love –
the love that surrounds you, the love that anoints you,
the love that blesses you – is so powerful, it can do anything.
As Moses said Do not be afraid.
Stand firm and you will see the deliverance of Love.
Love will find you the opportunity that you need.
Love will protect you from the storm.
Love will carry you above the fray.
Love will fight for you.
All you have to do is be still.
Love will call upon us to demonstrate what love can do
just like when Moses raised his staff
and stretched out his hand over the sea
– and it turned into dry land.

Say throughout this meditation to yourself
and know throughout the day,
“My love parts my sea.”
