WE ACCEPT OURSELVES: November 28, 2107

“The Buddha said we each have beauty within us,
but this may be hard to accept if in our home,
our community, and our workplace we’re getting a different message.
Many of us believe our workplace is not a safe place.
Often at work, we are afraid of disapproval.
We are afraid to be ourselves,
and we change who we are to be accepted.
If your happiness depends entirely on the views of other people,
you have no confidence in yourself.
Then, when you are not recognized by others
as beautiful and worthy, you suffer.
This is what makes you want to be someone else,
something else, which is the foundation of suffering. . . .

To be beautiful means to be yourself.
You don’t need to be accepted by others.
You need to accept yourself.”

Thich Nhat Hanh, from The Art of Power

In the center of being, I am grateful.
In the power of realizing, I am thankful.
In the grace of believing, I am appreciative.
In the now of knowing, I am that I am.

I am grateful body, mind and soul
in every aspect of my being,
AND FOR EVERY LIFE THAT LIVES, BREATHES
AND HAS ITS BEING.
Whatever is meant for evil
empowers us with good.
Nothing can forsake the goodness of Spirit.
Nothing is greater than God,
the absolute good,
in whose image and likeness
we are forever made.
